Pedestrian dead after being hit by tow truck driver in north-west Toronto

A 40-year-old man has died after being struck by a tow truck in Toronto's northwest end on Monday night.

 

The incident occurred on Weston Road near Rogers Road shortly before 7 p.m. According to Toronto police, the man was standing in the center lane of Weston Road, waiting to cross, when he was hit by a northbound 2016 Chevrolet Silverado tow truck driven by a 24-year-old man. The impact caused the pedestrian to collide with a southbound 2021 Toyota Rav4 operated by a 55-year-old woman.

 

Officers arriving at the scene performed life-saving measures before paramedics transported the man to a trauma center, where he was pronounced dead. The tow truck driver remained at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation. No charges have been laid at this time.
