On Wednesday morning, a school bus carrying 23 secondary students was rear-ended on Municipal Road 35, east of Azilda in Greater Sudbury. Emergency services responded promptly to the incident, which occurred around 7:42 a.m.
Paramedics assessed all students on board, and one child was transported to the hospital for observation as a precautionary measure, following requests from some parents. Another student was taken to the hospital for a medical concern unrelated to the collision. After assessments, a second school bus arrived to transport the remaining students to school.
The Greater Sudbury Police Service was on-site to manage traffic and is currently investigating the cause of the collision. No further details have been released at this time.
For parents seeking information on school bus routes and safety protocols, the Sudbury Student Services Consortium provides resources and updates. They manage transportation for the area's school boards and can be contacted for any concerns regarding student transportation.
