Head-on crash involving tanker truck kills 2 people in Ontario

A fatal collision occurred on Highway 63 near Highway 533, northeast of North Bay, on Monday morning. Two individuals in a passenger vehicle were pronounced deceased at the scene following a collision with a commercial motor vehicle. Emergency services, including the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), EMS, and the Phelps Fire Department, responded promptly. The highway was closed in both directions between Highway 533 and Fish Hatchery Road for approximately seven hours but has since reopened. The OPP's traffic incident management enforcement team is assisting with the investigation. CTV News Northern Ontario
This incident adds to a series of recent collisions on Highway 63. On December 17, 2024, a collision led to the closure of Highway 63 between North Bay and Thorne. The highway was reopened later that day.
Earlier, on October 27, 2021, a fatal collision occurred on Highway 63 within the city limits of North Bay. The OPP reported that a single-vehicle collision resulted in the death of the driver.
