Fatal Accident in a head-on collision south of Westlock

A tragic collision occurred Wednesday when a 16-year-old driver crossed the center line and collided head-on with another vehicle, according to RCMP.

The crash happened around 5:30 p.m. on Highway 44 near Highway 651 as the teen headed south. The passenger in the northbound vehicle, a 75-year-old woman, died at the scene. The driver of the northbound vehicle, a 49-year-old woman, suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

The 16-year-old also sustained non-life-threatening injuries. RCMP are continuing their investigation into the incident.
