Two pedestrians and a cyclist have been seriously injured after a multi-vehicle collision near the University of Toronto’s downtown campus.
A pickup truck driver was involved in a collision with two other vehicles, two pedestrians and a cyclist near College and St. George streets just after 5 p.m. on Wednesday evening, according to Toronto police.
A few feet in front of the two cars was a bicycle, laying twisted and crushed on the sidewalk. A traffic signal post, a light post and garbage bin were also knocked down.
Half a block west of the scene, on the north side of the street, a white pickup truck was on the sidewalk with damage to the front, the licence plate hanging off and the front-left wheel askew.
The pickup truck appeared to have lost control, ran into two cars, two pedestrians and a cyclist after driving off the road and over the curb separating the bike lane before stopping on the sidewalk in front of the U of T bookstore.
The posted speed limit is 40 km/h.
