The hockey community grieves the loss of a trainer who tragically passed away after a motorcycle accident in south London.

Local hockey leagues in the London area are grieving the loss of a prominent team member who died following a crash with his motorcycle and a vehicle in the city's south-end Friday afternoon.

"Every day around Joe was a good day. He took so much pride in taking care of the players and being involved in a team. He went above and beyond for everyone and he was a great guy," St. Marys Lincolns' head coach Jeff Bradley told CBC London.

A motorcyclist has died following a Friday afternoon collision in London’s southwest, police confirm. The crash, which occurred around 1:30 p.m. at the intersection of Colonel Talbot Road and Southminster Bourne, involved the motorcycle and another vehicle. The motorcyclist was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries but did not survive. The vehicle driver stayed at the scene. Police closed the intersection for several hours for investigation, utilizing drones to survey the area. The investigation is ongoing, and police are seeking dash-cam footage and any relevant information.

The crash comes weeks after a pair of London collisions involving motorcycles, one fatal and the other causing serious injuries. Friday’s crash is the 10th fatal collision in the London-region involving motorcycles since early July, most on rural roads. It’s a trend Ontario Provincial Police say is happening across the province, and serious enough to prompt an enforcement blitz.

Our deepest condolences are with the family and friends of Joe Gowers.
