A 67-year-old woman has been charged with careless driving causing death following a fatal pedestrian collision in North York. The incident occurred on January 9, 2025, around 6:50 a.m., near the westbound Highway 401 off-ramp at Keele Street. The driver, operating a grey 2018 Hyundai Santa Fe, made a right turn onto Keele Street and struck a 34-year-old man attempting to cross the road. The victim was transported to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The driver remained at the scene, and on January 29, 2025, she was charged with careless driving causing death.

This tragic event highlights the critical importance of pedestrian safety and the need for drivers to exercise caution, especially when making turns at intersections. Pedestrians are encouraged to use designated crosswalks and remain vigilant, while drivers must be attentive to their surroundings to prevent such incidents.
